i always had our baby sleep in another room of the house in a bouncy seat or something until they were sleeping reliably through the night so they wouldn't wake up the siblings- all 3 still share a room. so, i would have the baby sleep in the living room etc, until then. it's worked great. unconventional, i suppose, but it's been great for us. now, h has his own room, so it's not a big deal ( they're on different levels too) and he's been sleeping 8-8 for a few months- but when he wasn't, it was nice to not worry about him waking them up!
