Rockets, Planes,
Isaac Newton...oh, my!

My 4th graders and I just finished our 3rd day of Starbase today. We are participating in an amazing program sponsored by the Department of Defense, in which the students learn about aviation, science, technology, engineering and math. The program encourages them to set goals and achieve dreams using the motto that dreams + action = Reality. Today we launched our rockets, which the students built themselves. Then they learned about the in's and out's of flying; followed by an awesome flight simulation program. I have to admit the no one should fly the me...I can't seem to land the plane without crashing. HAHA! We have 2 more days of fun...I know the kids are SO excited!!

Waiting to launch...
The launch pad

The Queen (that's my call name) ready to see the rocket in action!

After our rocket victories!!

In the cockpit...ready to fly!
(I don't know how pilots focus on so many
different controls at once...it was tough)

Taking off from Chicago en route to Rapid City :-)
