Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

That is the song we are curretly singing, as we are stuck inside our house today. The first line of the song says it all, "the weather outside is frightful." We have had blizzard like weather for 20 hours, with wind gusts up to 60 mph and 2-3 feet of snow. And due to the wind, the snow has made some nasty drifts. So today's blog entry is:

"Top 10 Reasons Why I Love Blizzards."

#1: Can you say SNOW DAY? That's right, school was closed today. In fact, everything is closed today, even the interstate. Nobody in our neighborhood has gone anywhere.

#2: You get to spend the day in your pajamas and bed-head is acceptable. I love being comfortable and if that means staying in my pj's than that's what I do! Tim and the girls have joined in my revolt against getting dressed and are in their comfortable sleepwear as well.

#3: I get to watch all my morning TV shows. I miss my AM routine when I have to start the school year. I had a four month maternity leave to savor in those rotten morning talk shows, and I loved it! But once September hits, I know I have to give them up...TODAY I WATCHED THEM ALL!

#4: Baking is fun, fun, fun! Tim and Izzy took advantage of the morning hours to bake some delicious chocolate chip cookies. The reason this is on my list is that I get to enjoy the end result! MMMmmmm.

#5: I get some much needed house cleaning done. I know, I know...I shouldn't have to do it on my day off, but I don't mind at all...especially since it will free up more time this weekend.

#6: We get to spend time together as a family. We're always so busy, going here, there and everywhere. Today we are forced to enjoy each others company...nobody can leave the house. It's been wonderful playing with the girls and talking with my husband.

#7: Snuggling! It feels great when you know it's COLD outside. We started by staying in bed a little longer this morning. Izzy joined us when she woke up, and watched "Dora the Explorer." Then we pulled all the blankets out and snuggled on the couch during breakfast, and on the floor during play time.

#8: Did I mention SNOW DAY??

#9: I don't feel guilty about buying snow tires. My parents think I'm crazy for buying snow specific tires, but...boy I'm going to need them! We live in South Dakota...they'll get some good use.

and #10: Nap Time!! Yah for naps. I love naps...I wish they were part of my everyday routine. Today Sophie snuggled with me on the couch and we slept for almost 2 hours! WOW! I love naps!!

I sure hope those snow plows get out soon...otherwise we'll be enjoying another day at home! Everyone that lives east of us...I'll pray that you don't get quite as much snow as we did, or at least none of the wind. Stay warm!
